What would a public library be without a vast collection of fiction books ready for your reading pleasure? At the John M. Cuelenaere Public Library we offer our patrons a wide variety of fiction genres ranging from general fiction, romance, science fiction, fantasy, historical fiction, horror, suspense, christian fiction, humour, etc. for adults, children, and teens.

Also included in the Adult Fiction collection are the Large Print books located at the end of the Adult Fiction are, and a Paperback books located south of the Information Desk.

Specific to our children’s fiction section, in addition to the chapter books and novels, are the Easies, Easy Readers, and Board Books, which are story books for ages 0-8.

Here is some helpful information about our fiction collection:

  • Loan period is 21 days.
  • Fines on adult  books are $0.30/day.
  • Fines on young adult books are $0.20/day.
  • There are no fines on children’s material.
  • Check out limit of 100 items.

Catalogue searching for fiction books:

  • The easiest way to search for fiction books is to use a Keyword search for the title and the author’s last name.
    Example: da vinci code brown
  • Or try searching by Title.
    Example: The Da Vinci Code
  • You can also search by Author.
    Example: Brown, Dan (always last name, comma, first name)
  • If you don’t know the author or title, try searching either a general keyword.
    Example: secret codes
  • Or search a Subject.
    Example: Cryptographers — Fiction.
  • If you want to see what we currently have on our shelves at JMCPL click the Library Info tab at the top and select Portal from the drop down menu. On the left hand side click the John M. Cuelenaere Public Library link and do a keyword search. Once the results are returned you can Limit By: Available Now.
  • If you still can’t find the book you want click the Library Info tab at the top and select Portal from the drop down menu. On the left hand side click the All SILS Libraries link and do another keyword search.
  • If the book you would like is not available feel free to make a suggestion!
