In our untiring efforts to connect you with what you like to read, we subscribe to a number of databases.  As a JMCPL patron, you can access the majority of these databases from wherever you have an Internet connection at zero cost.  This information will always be at your fingertips so long as you have your valid JMCPL-issued library card on hand.  Just log into the database of your choosing by clicking the link below and then entering your 14-digit library card number and PIN.  Accessing information has never been easier!

Gale Literary Sources
Gale Literary Sources brings together all of Gale’s literary databases into one seamlessly cross-searchable research and study environment. Literature Resource Center
Find up-to-date biographical information, overviews, full-text literary criticism and reviews on more than 130,000 writers in all disciplines, from all time periods and from around the world. The optional MLA International Bibliography module adds citations for hundreds of thousands of books, articles and dissertations from 1926 to the present, linked to full text where available.

Computer Database
Use this database to find computer-related product introductions, news and reviews in areas such as hardware, software, electronics, engineering, communications and the application of technology.  Contains over 8,000,000 articles published between 1980 and 2012.

Auto Repair Reference Centre
The information in this database contains complete automotive repair information supplied by Nichols Publishing, publisher of Chilton’s manuals. Auto Repair Reference Centre contains information on most major manufacturers of domestic and imported vehicles, with repair information for most vintage makes starting as far back as 1954.

Small Engine Repair Reference Centre
Small Engine Repair Reference Centre is a full text database that provides instructional information about small engine machinery maintenance and repair. It contains thousands of accurate and concise step-by-step maintenance and repair instructions for hundreds of small engine machines and their supporting components. Routine maintenance, such as tune-ups and brake service, as well as more extensive repairs involving engine transmission disassembly are covered. Many documents contain photos and detailed illustrations to visually support step-by-step procedures. Ancestry Library Edition
Please note that this database is only available at the library.
Ancestry Library Edition accesses thousands of databases and billions of names from documents from the 1300s to present day, from the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada. There are historical maps, draft cards from World War I, census records, vital statistics, parish records, family trees, ships’ passenger lists, and much more. The database is updated often, with more original images added all the time.

Government of Saskatchewan Publications Centre
Provides central access to government and other Saskatchewan publications.  Access government forms, legislation, news releases and bylaws or search the site by ministry/agency or subject area.

LegalTrac
Includes articles from all major law reviews and journals, specialty law and bar association journals, and legal newspapers. There are also articles on Federal and State Cases, and articles from the British Commonwealth, European Union, and other international bodies.

Hobbies and Crafts Reference Center
View full-text articles/passages from over 1,000 magazines and books about the most popular crafts, hobbies, and recreation activities today. The content includes more than 720 videos and over 3,000 recipes. Some of the magazines covered include Bead & Button, Birder’s World, Creative Knitting, Fine Scale Modeler, Quilter’s World, and many more.

Home Improvement Reference Center
This database includes 24 major reference works about home improvement, including maintenance, remodeling, electrical work, plumbing, wood projects, decorating, and outdoor projects for your home and garden. There are also over 100 videos of popular home repair projects and many full-text magazines.

Freegal allows you to download and keep up to five mp3s per week.  Choose from over three million titles from all music genres including country, oldies, pop, rap, hip hop and more.  Freegal files don’t expire so you’ll be able to keep your downloads indefinitely.

hoopla
Our latest databases allows you to stream thousands of movies, TV shows, songs, and audiobooks.  Once you borrow a title to stream, you’ll have access to it for a specified amount of time.  When your allotted borrow period is up, the title will automatically disappear from your account, so you don’t have to worry about returning it yourself! You can also download the hoopla app for your smartphone or tablet for streaming on the go! Visit your device’s app store to download.

Naxos Music Library
This is a comprehensive collection of music available online, and includes the complete catalogue of over 130,000 tracks. While listening, you can read notes about the works being played and biographical information on composers and artists. A one-stop source for news and periodical articles on a wide range of topics: business, computers, current events, economics, education, environmental issues, health care, hobbies, humanities, law, literature and art, politics, science, social science, sports, technology, and many general interest topics. Millions of full-text articles, many with images. Updated daily.

PressReader
PressReader is a newer and  more user friendly version of your old favourite, PressDisplay! It offers full-text access to your favourite newspapers and magazines, just how they appear in print form. PressReader also offers a home page feed with current and up-to-date news headlines. Local newspapers such as, The Prince Albert Daily Herald, Leader Post, The Globe and Mail, and many more are available through this service.

Flipster is a next-generation digital magazine solution that makes it easy for you to read your favorite magazines on your computer or mobile device. This database provides ratings and reviews, recommendations and buying advice for thousands of products and services.  There is also in-depth advice, tips and trends written by Consumer Reports experts.  Frequently updated articles, blogs and video content allow consumers to peruse the latest consumer news — whether they’re looking to learn more about budget-friendly home improvement plans, understanding the benefits and risks of retirement options, or searching for the latest recalls of baby products.
